Phoenix Refugee Connections: Summer Book Club

Journey with us as we read this true story of endurance, hope, doubt, and sacrifice amidst the turmoil of the Second Congo War

This riveting book tells the story of young Bikonzi Moise: alongside his mother and six siblings, Bikonzi is ripped from his home and forced into a concentration camp in the middle of the Second Congo War. Through unyielding hope, unimaginable sacrifice, and the wrestling with God amidst deafening silence, this unforgettable story will leave you breathless and inspired.

Now residing here in Phoenix, Bikonzi Moise's story is not just a testament to survival --it's a beacon of the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity and find light even in the darkest of times.

About the author: Reverend Clint Leavitt is a good friend of Bikonzi Moise. He is a pastor, writer, and film enthusiast passionate about exploring faith, doubt, and the human condition. He serves in urban Phoenix, where he helps foster missional communities. His work engages the spiritually curious, drawing from Scripture, culture, and storytelling to offer a deeper paradigm of hope.
