The Big Idea: Why Four Gospels?

  • Desert Springs Bible Church 16215 North Tatum Boulevard Phoenix, Arizona, 85032 United States (map)

Why Four Gospels?

Why did the early church preserve four accounts of the life of Jesus rather than combining them into a single story? And what should we make of the different details, emphases, and perspectives found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?

Dr. John DelHousaye will explore why the church received these four distinct witnesses and how each Gospel helps us see Jesus more fully. Drawing from decades of teaching and his four-volume commentary, The Fourfold Gospel, he will help us appreciate the differences among the Gospels, read them alongside one another, and encounter the person of Jesus through each writer’s unique theological vision.

This evening asks a deeper question: What becomes visible about Jesus when we learn to receive the four Gospels without flattening them into one?
